Position Overview:

Linear Recruitment Ltd is in search of a Lead Cost Consultant to enhance our team and deliver vital financial oversight. The selected candidate will be instrumental in managing financial data, ensuring adherence to contractual obligations, and aiding in the realization of the company's strategic objectives.

In collaboration with client representatives and various stakeholders, the Lead Cost Consultant will address a range of financial matters, including the negotiation of changes, claims, and supplementary payments.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Guarantee precise, timely, and comprehensive cost and value reporting at both project and organizational levels.
  • Maintain detailed cash flow analysis.
  • Conduct financial management tasks, including budget forecasting.
  • Regularly update monthly cost value reports, financial plans, and take responsibility for financial performance and strategy.
Operational Procedures:
  • Ensure compliance with financial processes throughout the organization.
  • Actively pursue improvements in operational procedures.
  • Acquire a thorough understanding of processes within any joint venture or alliance arrangements and contribute to their refinement.
External Engagements:
  • Confirm that primary contracts possess appropriate terms and conditions, identifying financial risks.
  • Engage with suppliers using suitable contract stipulations.
  • Foster strong client relationships and oversee subcontract negotiations and financial management.
Internal Collaboration:
  • Effectively lead the financial team, including cost analysts and support personnel.
  • Ensure seamless cooperation between the financial team and operational site personnel.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior Cost Consultants.
Performance Metrics:
  • Accurate monthly financial forecasting.
  • Ability to critically assess resources and expenditures.
  • Compliance with deadlines as outlined in the monthly financial calendar.
Key Relationships:
  • Financial Manager/Lead Cost Consultant and other team members.
  • Business Development and Proposal Managers.
Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate should meet the following qualifications:

Essential:
  • Hold an HND/degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
  • Have prior experience in the civil engineering industry.
  • Familiarity with ICE/NEC contract forms (NEC3 or NEC4) and knowledge of current construction legislation.
  • Extensive background in financial management and subcontractor procurement, including meeting facilitation, measurement, and control cycles, certifications, and accrual calculations.
  • Proven expertise in monthly reporting and earned value analysis.
  • Strong collaborative skills with the ability to work autonomously.
  • Excellent time management abilities with a focus on meeting deadlines.
  • Capability to inspire and support junior members of the financial team.
  • Experience working for contractors, preferably in the water sector, with the ability to manage substantial data for open book contract forms.
Desirable:
  • Membership in RICS or other relevant professional organizations, or working towards certification.
  • Possession of a CSCS card.
