This position centers around managing your own portfolio of titles from the moment they are assigned to you by the customer service division until their final printed form. You will collaborate with team members to ensure that edits, typesets, and cover designs are completed promptly and according to schedule. As the primary liaison for your assigned authors, you will play a vital role in the production department.

Reporting directly to the Production Manager and receiving support from the Assistant Production Manager, you will be entrusted with significant responsibilities early in your tenure. This role will involve direct communication with authors via phone, email, and in-person meetings, ensuring their publishing experience is as rewarding as possible.

Key Responsibilities

Your main duties will include:

  • Overseeing each author and project assigned to you, from the receipt of the contract to the official publication date of the book.
  • Managing the production of a diverse range of books, from manuscript stage to the delivery of the final product.
  • Coordinating with both internal and external stakeholders to guarantee that all aspects of book production align on time and meet quality standards.
  • Organizing the scheduling of all book deliveries from printers, whether to the Troubador warehouse or directly to authors, and maintaining communication with printers to ensure a seamless process.
  • Serving as the primary contact for authors throughout the production journey of their books.

Essential Requirements

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:

  • The ability to excel in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects concurrently.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • A keen eye for detail along with strong grammar and spelling proficiency.
  • Outstanding organizational abilities.
  • Proficient technical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the capability to convey complex or technical processes clearly to authors.
  • The ability to multitask effectively, as you will handle numerous books in production simultaneously.
  • A collaborative spirit, comfortable seeking assistance when needed.

Desirable Qualifications

While not mandatory, the following qualifications would be advantageous:

  • Experience with Adobe InDesign.
  • Familiarity with Apple Mac computers.
  • Knowledge of the book production process.
  • Experience in direct customer or client interactions.

Salary: £24,000 per year
