As part of their growth strategy, they are seeking a Senior Cost Consultant to contribute to their expanding portfolio, particularly on Major and Mega international projects.
Key Responsibilities of the Senior Cost Consultant:
Reporting to the Project Director based in the UK, this role is situated in Central London and requires a seasoned Cost Consultant with a background in infrastructure (Rail, Metro Systems, Highways, Water, Airports, etc.). The ideal candidate will have experience in design development support, cost estimation, and executing QS tasks throughout project lifecycles.
- Collaborate with engineering and procurement teams to quantify work scopes and create comprehensive Bill of Quantities (BoQ) schedules.
- Evaluate and generate project budgets and cost assessments at various phases, including prospective projects, tender stages, and ongoing initiatives.
- Work closely with project planners to identify and allocate necessary resources for delivering international infrastructure construction projects.
- Analyze and update budgets, BoQs, and related calculations to support bidding documents and contractual agreements.
- Continuously revise BoQs for design and construction modifications and adjust budget forecasts accordingly.
- Partner with the Procurement Manager to establish relevant specifications for sourcing subcontractors, materials, and services.
Engage with engineering and procurement teams to comprehend requirements and appropriate volumes necessary for construction and operations & maintenance (O&M).
Measure and assess the work completed on-site, reconcile design variations, and collaborate with the Procurement Manager to enhance design efficiency.
Generate regular reports on project budgets and progress towards completion.
Liaise with client technical site managers, commercial officers, and advisors to ensure project alignment and seamless execution.
Produce and maintain Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR) reports and project forecasts, providing regular updates to the Project Director.
Review and evaluate subcontractor payment applications, ensuring timely submission of upstream Approved for Construction Plans (AFPs) to maintain positive cash flow.
Participate in project progress meetings and client commercial review sessions, offering commercial insights and updates.
Identify, evaluate, and manage project risks, implementing strategies to mitigate financial exposure and ensure successful project outcomes.
Types of Projects:
- Stadium refurbishments
- Rail, High-speed Rail, and Metro
- Major Highway Schemes
Requirements for the Senior Cost Consultant:
- A degree in quantity surveying or a related field, ideally chartered with RICS/ICES or working towards chartership.
- A minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience in both tender stages and ongoing projects.
- Experience working within a tender submission team with an EPC Contractor on large-scale international transport, power, water, and commercial infrastructure projects valued at £100M+.
- Proficiency in numerical and data analysis using MS Excel and various MS software.
- Strong awareness of contemporary building and construction technologies, processes, materials, and legal matters.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- A proactive self-starter with robust problem-solving capabilities.
- Foreign language skills (French, Spanish, and/or Portuguese) are advantageous but not mandatory.
- Exposure to FIDIC contracts and international experience is highly desirable.
- Must possess a valid UK right to work (sponsorship is not available).
