Environmental Consultant Position

We are seeking an Environmental Consultant to join a dynamic consultancy firm specializing in ecological and biodiversity net gain (BNG) initiatives. This role offers a competitive salary of up to £45,000 along with comprehensive benefits and the chance to lead the development of our ecology division as the organization grows.

This expanding consultancy employs around 60 professionals across multiple locations, providing a variety of services to clients throughout the UK. As ecology and biodiversity net gain become increasingly vital to our operations, we are looking for a dedicated professional who can collaborate with internal teams and manage external specialists on diverse projects nationwide. The ideal candidate will be eager to advance their career and play a key role in shaping the future of the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the broader team with ecological assessments and BNG evaluations
  • Conduct site visits and client consultations throughout the region
  • Perform BNG option assessments for planning submissions and biodiversity enhancement strategies
  • Execute habitat surveys, Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), and improvement plans
  • Oversee the coordination of external specialists and contractors for ecological evaluations
  • Prepare reports and support planning applications
  • Contribute to the growth of the department as the company expands.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in a related position (Ecologist, EIA Consultant, BNG Specialist, or equivalent)
  • Expertise in BNG, including impact assessments
  • Experience in conducting ecological surveys
  • Familiarity with acquiring biodiversity units and credits as part of offsetting strategies
  • Valid driving license and access to a vehicle
  • Consultancy experience is highly preferred.
