SEN Safeguarding Coordinator

Wimbledon, Greater London, United Kingdom Veritas Education Recruitment Full time £37,309 - £45,196
Join Our Team as a SEN Safeguarding Coordinator

Are you dedicated to enhancing the lives of children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges? If so, we invite you to consider an enriching opportunity within our dynamic primary school environment as a SEN Safeguarding Coordinator.

About Us:
We are a specialized primary institution focused on children aged 4-12 years, committed to fostering a supportive and nurturing atmosphere for our students who experience Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other complex needs. Our goal is to ensure that every child is secure, supported, and provided with the chance to flourish.

Your Role:
As the SEN Safeguarding Coordinator, you will be instrumental in safeguarding the welfare of our students. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and overseeing all safeguarding and child protection initiatives within the school.
  • Formulating and executing safeguarding policies and protocols.
  • Delivering training and guidance to staff regarding safeguarding matters.
  • Collaborating closely with families, caregivers, and external organizations to ensure the safety and well-being of our students.
  • Addressing the emotional and behavioral needs of students, recognizing the reasons behind challenging behaviors, and applying suitable strategies.

Experience with Autism:
Applicants must possess experience working with autistic students and have a background in this area. Experience with non-verbal students is essential, as is a strong commitment to understanding and supporting students who exhibit challenging behaviors. The ability to work with students aged 4-11 and provide a customized and accessible curriculum is crucial.

Innovative Approach:
We value creative thinking in lesson delivery, utilizing tools and methodologies such as TEACCH, Attention Autism, and PODD. A thorough understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures is also required.

Meaningful Impact:
This role offers the opportunity to make a significant difference in the lives of children with SEN and SEMH needs.

Professional Growth:
We provide opportunities for continuous training and professional development.

Attractive Benefits:
We offer a competitive salary along with a comprehensive benefits package.

If you are a committed safeguarding professional with a passion for supporting children with SEN and SEMH needs, we encourage you to explore this opportunity to join our team and contribute positively to our school community.

Commitment to Safeguarding:
We are dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful candidate will undergo an enhanced DBS check.

Inclusivity:
We welcome applications from all segments of the community, ensuring a diverse and inclusive environment.
