Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated software engineer to join our team at the Society of Research Software Engineering. As a key member of our department, you will play a crucial role in supporting leading research across the department, particularly in the translation of research outputs into innovative software solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, and deploy high-quality software products that meet the needs of our research community.
  • Assist in the development of programming skills amongst key research staff, including training and mentoring.
  • Contribute to the creation of impact through the development of software solutions that address real-world problems.
  • Collaborate with researchers to identify software needs and develop solutions that meet those needs.

Requirements

  • Strong background in programming and software development, with experience in software development best practices.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Talent for technical problem-solving, with the ability to adapt to new technologies and tools.
  • Experience in training or tutoring software development, with the ability to design and deliver training programs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in software development in a research context.
  • Knowledge of software development methodologies and best practices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
