Data Engineer Lead Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer Lead to join our team at Reed RTS Technology in Huddersfield. As a Data Engineer Lead, you will play a key role in building and developing our client's data engineering capability and practice.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership and guidance to stakeholders on all stages and iterations of data engineering projects.
  • Capability Development: Build and develop the client's data engineering capability and practice, providing professional people and technical leadership.
  • Best Practice Implementation: Implement best practice and set standards for data engineering, tools, techniques, and methods.
  • Compliance and Governance: Advise on the application of standards and methods and ensure compliance.
  • Data Integration: Establish enterprise-scale data integration procedures across the data development life cycle and ensure that teams adhere to these.
  • Future Technology: Predict and advise on future technology changes that present opportunities for and/or risks to a product or programme.
  • Data Quality: Proactively lead work and identify opportunities for data quality improvements.
Requirements:
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership skills along with the relevant technical competencies is a must.
  • Cloud Experience: Experience of implementing and working with cloud-based data platforms and services (e.g., Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services).
  • Data Modelling: Knowledge of the concepts and principles of data modelling and experience of producing relevant data models across multiple subject areas.
  • Team Management: Experience of leading, managing, and developing teams, providing technical leadership and career development.
  • Database Development: Advanced skills in developing databases and extracting, transforming, manipulating, and modelling data using a range of programming languages.
