Job Summary

Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited is seeking a highly skilled Staff Officer Accountant to join our client's Housing Regulation Branch. As a key member of the team, you will play a crucial role in delivering a modern, tailored, and cost-effective regulatory process that protects the interests of tenants.

About the Role

  • Undertake annual regulatory financial assessments of Registered Housing Associations;
  • Review the performance of Registered Housing Associations on a quarterly basis;
  • Manage mortgage and disposal notifications from Registered Housing Associations;
  • Support the work of the branch in delivering an effective regulatory regime, including advice and guidance for the social housing sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor, assess, and report on the performance of Registered Housing Associations and the NIHE in relation to housing activities;
  • Monitor their financial well-being and standards of governance, and increase engagement where necessary;
  • Create a social housing sector that is viable, efficient, well-governed, and able to deliver homes to meet a range of needs;
  • Ensure social housing tenants are protected and provided opportunities to be involved with their RHA.

Requirements

  • Applicants must be fully qualified accountants, having successfully completed the professional examinations, and be a full Member of one of the following bodies:
  • Chartered Accountants Ireland;
  • The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Scotland;
  • The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales;
  • The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants;
  • The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants;
  • The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy;
  • The Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Ireland.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Previous experience in the NICS and/or a regulatory environment;
