Job Opportunity: Behaviour Support Assistant

We are currently recruiting for a Behaviour Support Assistant to join our team at a SEN school in the Greenwich area. As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will work one-to-one with a child who requires additional assistance to manage their behaviour, helping them to engage positively in school life and achieve their potential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide focused 1:1 support to a student with challenging behaviour, helping them access the curriculum and develop positive coping strategies.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques to support the student's emotional and social development.
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering individualised learning plans, adapting lessons and activities to suit the student's specific needs.
  • Foster a calm, safe, and structured environment that promotes the student's well-being and positive behaviour.
  • Work closely with teachers, the SENCO, and external professionals to monitor progress, review targets, and adjust interventions as needed.
  • Build a trusting relationship with the student, promoting self-esteem, confidence, and emotional regulation.
  • Maintain detailed records of behaviour incidents, interventions, and progress, ensuring open communication with the wider support team and parents.
Requirements:
  • Experience working with children who display challenging behaviours, ideally in a school or educational setting.
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach with a genuine passion for supporting children with social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management strategies, including de-escalation and conflict resolution techniques.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work closely with teachers, support staff, and external professionals.
  • Resilience, flexibility, and a positive attitude, with the ability to adapt to the changing needs of the child.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
