Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Biomedical Scientist to join our team at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a Biomedical Scientist, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis and management of patients by performing complex investigations and procedures in our Clinical Immunology laboratory.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain expertise in specialised laboratory procedures and investigations.
  • Maintain State Registration with the Health Professions Council and adhere to the HPC Code of Conduct for Biomedical Scientists.
  • Ensure compliance with departmental policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that reflect local and national standards of work practice.
  • Communicate effectively with clinicians and other service users to explain results and provide advice on specimen types, timing of collection, and turnaround times.
  • Assess the suitability and appropriateness of samples submitted to the laboratory and take remedial action when required.
  • Analyse specimens for screening, diagnostic, and clinical management of patients using complex, specialised, and expensive equipment.
  • Interpret technical validity of results, which may be anomalous, incomplete, complex, or conflicting, using professional knowledge and experience.
