Job Title: Development and Test Engineer

Saab UK is a leading provider of high-technology solutions and services in defence, aviation, space, and civil security. We are seeking a skilled Development and Test Engineer to join our team in the UK.

Job Summary:

This is a new product testing role within the company, responsible for managing and executing the full lifecycle of test engineering, from definition of test-cases through development of test tools to the execution of testing and management of facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, design, and communicate test cases to validate requirements across a broad spread of electro-mechanical systems for both the development and production lifecycle phases.
  • Design test jigs, harnesses, and software to allow execution of test cases, including automation where appropriate.
  • Implement data processing and filtering software in various packages to extract relevant results.
  • Manage internal test facilities, including test tanks, ovens, pools, and lifting equipment.
  • Liaise with external test facilities, such as EMC, vibration, and pools.
  • Fault finding and failure analysis.
Requirements:
  • HNC or degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a test-focused role or within test equipment development.
  • Proven experience in data capture and analysis.
  • Proven experience working on multi-disciplinary systems, including electrical, mechanical, and software.
  • Experience working within an engineering NPI environment.
  • Experience with Instruments test software platforms and ability to create test software test functions within the Instruments environment.
  • Hands-on experience with electronic circuit construction, testing, and diagnostics.
  • Innovative and creative mindset with sound engineering principles.
  • Ability to create high-quality test reports.
  • Data capture and logging experience.
Desirable:
  • Experience in the offshore and/or subsea industry.
  • Experience working within a Production Test facility.
  • Knowledge or experience in creating test executives within NI LabView/TestStand software.
  • Software programming/scripting experience (Python, C, C#, C++, VB, etc.).
  • Specification, build, commissioning, and support of test equipment.
  • Understanding of mechanical principles and working knowledge of applications.
