About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our team at Onyx-Conseil, specializing in decarbonisation projects across the UK. As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing and developing electrical systems for renewable energy schemes, distributed generation, and LV distribution systems.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Design of Electrical Systems: Design and develop electrical systems for renewable energy schemes, distributed generation, and LV distribution systems, ensuring compliance with GB Distribution Code (G99, G100, etc.)
  2. Electrical Calculations: Perform electrical calculations, including load estimation, equipment sizing, cable & protection device selection, and electrical equipment specification
  3. Design Documentation: Prepare construction-ready detailed designs, including single line diagrams, control panel drawings, block cable diagrams, cable schedules, lists of materials, and design risk assessments
  4. Project Coordination: Define scope of works and interfaces for subcontractor packages, ensuring smooth project execution
  5. Technical Expertise: Possess proficiency in AutoCAD LT and Amtech (or equivalent), with experience in EPLAN being an advantage
  6. Knowledge and Skills: Have knowledge of legislation, standards, safe working practice, and environmental best practice, as well as control systems for power management and building controls (PLCs, SCADA, BMS, etc.)

Requirements

  1. Qualifications: Hold a CIBSE / IET Engineering Council accredited honours degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, or an HNC in an applicable discipline with commitment to continue with higher education and to have achieved or be working towards IEng or CEng status
  2. Experience: Have experience as a Design Engineer in building services, renewables, or related industry, with a background in electrical installation being considered
  3. Skills: Possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
