Position Overview

Role: Versatile Engineering Technician

Location: Imerys Aluminates

Compensation: Competitive salary based on experience, plus additional call-out allowance

Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday, with on-call requirements

An exciting opportunity exists within our Imerys Aluminates facility, known for producing high-performance calcium illuminate binders. These products are essential for various industries, including construction, wastewater management, and metallurgy.

Your primary responsibilities will include executing planned maintenance and responding to urgent repair needs for fixed plant and associated systems.

Main Duties:

  • Conduct mechanical and electrical engineering tasks.
  • Perform diagnostics, inspections, and troubleshooting of industrial machinery.
  • Manage power switching (LV or HV) and work with high voltage systems.
  • Be available for after-hours emergency call-outs.
  • Engage in engineering projects.
  • Operate Forklift and Cherry Picker equipment.
  • Comply with Health, Safety & Environmental regulations.
  • Utilize the SAP system for operations.

This position may require working at heights and in confined spaces.

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in both electrical and mechanical maintenance, particularly within fixed processing plants.

Key qualifications include:

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in an Engineering field
  • Electrical Installation Work Certification (City and Guilds 2360/2330 part 1 & 2 or equivalent)
  • Experience in a heavy manufacturing environment
  • Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and process systems
  • Willingness to address after-hours breakdowns
  • Valid UK driving license
