Position: Geo-Environmental Engineer
Location: Norwich
Salary: £35.23 - £40.95 (Dependent on experience)
Work Hours: 40 Hours per week
Norse Group is dedicated to providing a comprehensive testing and consultancy service tailored for the construction sector. Our expertise encompasses a diverse array of assessments conducted both onsite and within our laboratory, ensuring our clients receive specialized guidance.
We are in search of a Geo-Environmental Engineer to become an integral part of our laboratory team. This role is offered on a permanent basis, with a commitment of 40 hours per week.
The position entails a blend of fieldwork and office responsibilities, focusing on the design, execution, and management of geotechnical and geo-environmental site assessments for our clients, as part of the Geotechnical Department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Planning and executing site assessments while overseeing field teams, typically on a customized basis.
- Evaluating expected site conditions to facilitate site assessments and the development of ground models.
- Conducting soil and rock logging and sampling in both field and laboratory settings.
- Inputting data into geotechnical software to generate logs and related outputs.
- Preparing schedules for laboratory testing.
- Analyzing site and laboratory data, and compiling factual and interpretative reports.
- Assisting the Senior Geotechnical Engineer in formulating proposals and estimating costs and timelines for site assessments.
- Collaborating with clients and laboratory team members to ensure timely and budget-compliant task completion.
- Creating CAD drawings as necessary to support assessments and reporting.
- Managing assigned project personnel and mentoring colleagues as appropriate.
- Ensuring compliance with the latest Health and Safety regulations and standards in all work conducted.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in the Geotechnical/Geo-Environmental Engineering field.
- Proven experience in factual report writing and providing expert recommendations.
- A degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field.
- Membership in a relevant professional body, with a willingness to pursue chartered status.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
