Tiverton High School, part of the Federation of Tiverton Schools, is seeking a dedicated and innovative English teacher to join our successful and ambitious English team. Our school is situated in a beautiful location, within easy reach of the M5, Exeter, Exmoor, and the North Devon coast.

We are an 11-16 co-educational school with over 1100 students, offering a genuinely comprehensive intake. Our philosophy is grounded on the belief that we are here to help children succeed.

The role requires high expectations for yourself and students, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to continuous development. Our English department is a supportive, dedicated, and experienced team who work hard to uphold the highest of expectations and deliver stimulating lessons.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To be accountable, alongside the Subject Leader, for student progress and development in your classes;
  • To help develop and maintain the scheme of work for all key stages while ensuring it complies with the national curriculum, is varied and personalised, and is supplemented with a range of extra-curricular activities and opportunities;
  • To ensure high standards of teaching and learning are established and maintained across the department;
  • To help develop appropriate assessments across the key stages that are varied for all the needs of the students.
