About the Role

The Emergency Department Technician role is a vital position within the Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, playing a crucial part in delivering high-quality patient care in our Emergency Department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist qualified nursing staff in providing patient care, including cannulation and venepuncture, ECGs, urinalysis, and other medical procedures.
  • Contribute to the efficient operation of the Emergency Department, prioritizing workload and working under pressure to meet performance targets.
  • Develop skills and knowledge in clinical governance, patient safety, and infection control.
  • Collaborate with the nursing team to provide basic nursing care, including observations, neurological observations, and chaperoning doctors.
Person Specification
  • Essential:
    • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience in a healthcare setting.
    • Experience of working in a care setting, with competent venepuncture and cannulation skills.
  • Desirable:
    • NVQ Level 2 with specialist A&E experience.
    • Basic Life Support Adults and Paediatric.
