Job SummaryWe are seeking a passionate and dedicated Residential Support Worker to join our team. As a key member of our residential care team, you will work closely with children and young people to provide care and support, promoting their positive development and well-being.
Key Responsibilities- Emotional and Social Support: Build meaningful relationships with the children, encouraging their interaction with peers and adults within the community.
- Enhancing Self-Esteem and Respect: Help each young person develop a positive self-image and ensure they feel respected and valued.
- Promoting Positive Life Choices and Independence: Support the children in making positive decisions and achieving levels of independence appropriate to their age and abilities.
- Accurate and Detailed Recording: Maintain meticulous records of events, observations, progress, child protection matters, and health and safety checks.
- Care Planning and Assessment: Collaborate with the manager and other professionals to create, implement, and review individual care plans based on the children's needs.
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with the health advisor, social workers, therapists, teachers, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive care for each child.
- Involvement with Families: Facilitate supervised contacts with the young people's families as necessary.
- Daily Living Support: Assist the children with their daily living needs in accordance with their care plans.
- Domestic Duties: Conduct household tasks and involve the children when appropriate, including planning, shopping, and preparing meals to ensure a varied and balanced diet.
- NVQ Level 3 in Children and Young People's Workforce (Preferred)
- Previous experience in a similar residential care role (Preferred)
- Ability to work 24-hour shifts as per the shift pattern.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Compassionate, patient, and understanding approach.
