Cinnamon Care is seeking a skilled Relief Chef to join our team and provide culinary support to our care homes in the north. As a Relief Chef, you will be responsible for managing all food production in the absence of the Head Chef or 2nd Chef, ensuring high standards and customer satisfaction are delivered at all times.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Food Service Management: Manage and deliver all catering services throughout the care home, ensuring resident choice, dignity, confidentiality, and safety are maintained.
  2. Catering Functions: Meet with residents and Heads of Department to discuss and agree catering functions across the home, meeting special needs or dietary requirements of residents.
  3. Cost Control: Support cost-effective stock control systems and ensure these are in place to minimize waste.
  4. Hygiene and Cleanliness: Maintain a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen and food storage areas at all times, in accordance with food hygiene regulations.
  5. Equipment Maintenance: Ensure safe operation and maintenance of all kitchen equipment, removing any item found to be faulty or deemed unsafe from use and reporting it to the General Manager.
  6. Health and Safety: Ensure the management and implementation of safe working procedures and practices in accordance with Health and Safety legislation.

Person Specification:

This role requires working within a team committed to providing an excellent food service to residents, having appropriate supervisory experience, and relevant qualifications pertaining to the safe delivery of Food and Hygiene or Catering Services.

Key Attributes:

  • Qualifications: Level 3 in Catering or equivalent QCF qualification
  • Health and Safety Knowledge: Working knowledge of Health and Safety legislation
  • Teamwork and Adaptability: Team player, self-motivated, proactive, flexible, and adaptable
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to organize and prioritize workload, and work under pressure
