Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Band 6 Mental Health Nurse to join our team at the Ministry of Defence. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide specialist mental health services to military and civilian personnel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct initial assessments and formulate mental health needs for referred patients, planning, implementing, and evaluating care with a high level of autonomy.
  • Perform clinical risk assessments, recognising nuances in presentation and intent, and acting in the best interests of patients and others to evaluate safety in the community.
  • Provide advice and recommendations to medical officers on mental health matters, including hospital admission advice and GP prescribing of medication.
  • Maintain accurate and contemporaneous records and clinical notes of all patient contact.
  • Communicate occupational information via the Unit Health Committee while respecting patient confidentiality.
Requirements
  • Postgraduate qualifications in an evidence-based psychological therapy.
  • Experience working within adult mental health services, preferably in a community setting.
  • Experience delivering NICE-recommended psychological interventions.
  • Professional registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) or Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
