About the Role

We are seeking an experienced VAT Accountant to join our Finance & Tax team in Nottingham. As a VAT Accountant, you will play a crucial role in supporting UK VAT compliance activity, preparing the UK Quarterly VAT Return for the UK VAT Group, and contributing to ongoing process improvement and systems refinements.

Key Responsibilities
  • UK Quarterly VAT Return Preparation: Prepare the UK Quarterly VAT Return for the UK VAT Groups, ensuring accuracy and compliance with UK VAT rules.
  • Data Extraction and Analysis: Extract data from various IT applications, verify this data, and analyze transactions by applying UK VAT rules.
  • Transactional Reviews: Perform transactional reviews following internal SOPs and HMRC VAT compliance guidance.
  • International VAT Compliance Support: Support the UK Tax team with International VAT compliance preparation/review and contribute to ongoing process improvement and systems refinements.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: ACA (or equivalent) or CTA (part or fully) qualified tax professional, qualified to CCAB or ATT.
  • Experience: Experience of working in a complex International Group with a range of VAT recoverable rates, production of UK and International VAT returns.
  • Skills: Robust knowledge of current UK and International VAT legislation, use of VAT specific software including Alpha VAT - desirable, good communication and influencing skills with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Personal Qualities: Highly organized, great time management, positive 'can do attitude', natural problem solver, multi-tasker, high level of attention to detail, excellent communication skills both verbally and written.
