KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Automotive Automation Engineer
Engage in the design of control systems for specialized machinery.
Purpose and Importance of the Role:
- To engineer control systems for bespoke machinery.
- To develop a comprehensive functions list for machine operation, ensuring accurate cross-referencing with control systems.
- To prioritize safety in both design and implementation phases, both internally and at client locations.
- To offer technical guidance and support to various departments.
- To collaborate with site teams to facilitate effective communication between site and automation engineers.
- To work alongside both internal subcontractors and external design teams.
- To assist other departments, including Sales, Procurement, Human Resources, Finance, and Production.
- To contribute effectively as a member of a diverse team.
- To support the control system needs for both powertrain and vehicle body technology sectors.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proven experience with Siemens systems is essential.
- Background in automotive or automation sectors is required.
- This is a full-time, office-based position (37.5 hours per week).
- Office location is in West Sussex, with a requirement to be present on-site.
- Willingness to travel across the UK to support ongoing projects is necessary, with travel expenses covered by the company.
- Candidates must possess the right to work in the UK, hold a valid UK driving license, and have access to a vehicle. Sponsorship is not available at this time.
- Engineering HNC or equivalent experience is required.
- Experience in control systems design is necessary.
- Familiarity with special purpose design and current industry standards is preferred.
- Strong understanding of electrical circuit design is essential.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Eplan P8 is required.
- Experience with Siemens S7 / S7 TIA Portal Programming and Commissioning is necessary.
- Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic circuit design is advantageous.
