Electrical CAD Technician Job Description

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Electrical CAD Technician to join our team at Mitie. As an Electrical CAD Technician, you will be responsible for creating and modifying schematics in Autodesk AutoCAD, working on a wide variety of security projects, and collaborating with our team to deliver exceptional results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, produce, develop, and amend drawings in accordance with appropriate standards and procedures.
  • Provide technical support to shop floor and on-site technicians.
  • Revise drawings and red-line markups appropriately.
  • Liaise and communicate effectively with stakeholders, across various teams and discipline groups, across various projects.
  • Be pro-active in streamlining and automating drawing, Engineering processes and propose improvement ideas.
  • Attend occasional site surveys.

Requirements:

  • Experience of creating / modifying schematics in Autodesk AutoCAD (minimum 2 years).
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of applications (essential).
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively using Microsoft teams (essential).
  • Experience of dealing with a key infrastructure client (preferable).
  • Knowledge of HV/LV distribution systems and electrical building systems (preferable).
  • Proficient in producing intelligent library blocks with attributes for data extraction.
  • Proficient in CAD data file management and drawing management procedures.
  • Good attention to detail, working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work as part of a small team / liaise with site teams.
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral. Ability to deal with requests for information in a professional manner.
  • Previous experience in the design and drawing of site layouts and associated equipment.
  • Knowledge / experience of National Grid Drawing procedures TP would be advantageous.
