As a key member of the Selfridges team, you will be responsible for a specific buying area, sourcing new brands and products, and negotiating the best terms for the business. You will work closely with the Merchandiser to plan and monitor the product range, ensuring compliance with all relevant processes.
Key Responsibilities- Source new brands and products in line with the business strategy, leveraging your knowledge and expertise of the product and market.
- Negotiate the best possible terms with suppliers, ensuring that buying decisions are based on a sound commercial framework to drive sales and profits.
- Work closely with the Merchandiser to plan the product range and monitor its performance, taking action or making recommendations to the Buying Manager as necessary.
- Be responsible for range planning, working closely with the Merchandiser and Buying Manager.
- Manage existing brands through analysis of performance, taking action when necessary and making decisions to keep or discontinue within the business.
- Work closely with key stakeholders to support the Buying Manager on masterplan projects.
- Support the Buying Manager on key pop-up activations and brand launches.
- Manage the performance of concession businesses through regular meetings with the concession business and through analysis of their performance, making recommendations to the Buying Manager.
- To be responsible for the ordering process within the area, ensuring compliance with all relevant processes.
- Highly knowledgeable with a well-developed understanding of the product/market.
- Strategic and operational, with strong analytical skills and experience driving long-term and profitable commercial strategies.
- Engaging, able to influence stakeholders, retail, and brands, using data and market trends to drive commercial opportunities.
- Customer-focused, with exceptional taste and instinct, able to push boundaries to offer new and exciting products.
- All over the numbers, numerate with a highly commercial approach, proficient in Excel.
- Collaborative, working flexibly as part of the wider Buying team, supporting projects and cross-functional meetings as necessary.
