About the Role:

The 2 Sigma team is seeking an experienced Information Governance Specialist to join our organization in a new role supporting the work of our Data Protection, Information Access, and Compliance team. As an essential part of our approach to compliance with data protection and information access legislation, this role will play a crucial part in our organization's success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with responses to information requests made to the organization under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA 2018), Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA), and Environmental Information Regulations 2004 (EIR).
  • Log, acknowledge, consider, and help to respond to such requests ensuring they are timely, accurate, and compliant.
  • Provide updates on the team's progress and signpost staff to relevant policies and processes.
  • Advise regulator staff on compliance with these policies and relevant legislation.
  • Ensure the organization's publication scheme is up to date and in line with ICO requirements.
  • Support staff by monitoring the completion of mandatory annual and induction data protection training.

Requirements:

  • Self-motivated and approachable with excellent people and communication skills.
  • Experience of responding to or assisting with requests for information and knowledge of, and commitment to, this area of work.
  • Ability to comply with legislation and respond to requests within strict deadlines.
  • Well-organized, a team player, able to prioritize, problem-solve, work to deadlines, and manage a varied and sometimes heavy workload.
