Transport Logistics Coordinator

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Transport Operator to join our team at Stead House Distribution Centre in Darlington. As a key member of our Transport department, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our distribution network, working closely with our Transport Planning department to achieve our Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure all drivers are issued with correct delivery instructions and activities, and provide feedback to the relevant department.
- Optimise all resources available to maximise efficiency and productivity.
- Work closely with the warehouse operations function to ensure seamless loading and despatch procedures.
- Liaise with the planning team to provide information and recommendations where required.
- Provide constructive feedback to the driver management team on performance and behavior of drivers.
- Ensure vehicles and trailers are kept within service schedules, booking all required maintenance and repairs with the relevant workshop.
- Utilise administration procedures accurately and in a timely manner, including all KPI support information.
- Provide a first line of contact with stores in the event of schedule changes and daily issues.
- Engage in a co-operative and positive culture within the Distribution Centre and the wider business.
- Support colleagues, Team Leaders and Transport Manager where required.
Requirements:
- Previous experience within a transport environment, including managing drivers, is an advantage but not essential.
- Good understanding of cost accountability.
- Excellent communications skills.
- Flexibility and reliability.
- Able to work within a team as well as on own initiative.
- Customer facing exposure.
