Department/Role Overview

The Cyber Security Operations Manager will oversee the technical elements and team leadership, ensuring the proficient management of cyber security operations on a global scale. Key responsibilities include serving as the main contact for cyber security concerns, refining incident response strategies, generating technical documentation for senior management, and providing guidance on best practices. The role also encompasses supervising daily team functions, resource management, performance tracking, and promoting professional development. The team leader will guarantee exceptional service delivery, effective change management, and ongoing enhancement while implementing Agile methodologies and maintaining transparent communication with stakeholders and team members.

This position reports to the Global Cyber Security Operations Manager.

Main Responsibilities

Technical Oversight :

Primary Contact: Serve as the primary contact for all cyber security operations issues and escalations within the UK region, extending to AU as necessary. Incident Response and Problem Management: Improve the incident response plan and playbooks, collaborate with subject matter experts to manage incidents, lead the Cyber Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT) globally as required, and ensure accountability in problem management assigned to Cyber Security Operations. Technical Documentation: Create technical reports for senior business stakeholders. Cyber Security Best Practices: Provide advice on security best practices for various business service requests, ensuring compliance with client and regulatory certifications.

Team Leadership :

Supervision and Support: Oversee the daily activities of Security Engineering, Threat & Vulnerability Management, Data Loss Prevention, Secure Configuration, and Incident Detection & Response, along with the performance of team members across the UK & AU. Strategic Delivery: Collaborate with Senior Leadership, the Global Cyber Security Operations Manager, and subject matter experts to drive and deliver strategic objectives. Resource Management: Work with the Global Cyber Security Operations Manager to ensure that tasks and initiatives are assigned based on team members' skills and workload capacity. Performance Monitoring: Track individual and team performance against Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), ensuring SLAs are met or exceeded. Motivation and Development: Provide guidance, feedback, and support to team members to enhance performance and encourage professional growth. Training and Coaching : Identify skill gaps and arrange training opportunities to improve team members' capabilities. Performance Reviews : Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with team members to discuss performance, provide feedback, and set development goals. SLA Compliance : Ensure that team activities align with SLAs and stakeholder expectations, addressing any deviations promptly. Process & Risk Management : Ensure the team adheres to security, change, and operational processes, identifying potential risks and dependencies, and taking proactive measures to mitigate them.

Quality of Service:

Service Delivery: Ensure that the team consistently delivers high-quality services and meets stakeholder expectations. Change Management: Ensure that changes to systems are implemented smoothly and do not adversely affect security, services, or users. Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to streamline workflows and enhance service delivery.

Agile Methodologies :

Scrum Master Role : Facilitate Agile ceremonies such as daily stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives. Prioritization : Assist the team in prioritizing tasks and managing workloads effectively within Agile frameworks. Adaptability : Encourage flexibility and responsiveness to change, iterating on processes and deliverables based on feedback.

Communication:

Stakeholder Engagement : Act as a liaison between the team and stakeholders, ensuring clear communication of project status and outcomes. Team Communication : Promote open communication within and across the wider business teams to foster collaboration and resolve issues efficiently.

Essential Skills and Experience

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with the following skills and experience:

Relevant Cyber Security and/or IT experience Strong technical leadership and people management skills, preferably acquired in a global organization Experience managing escalations to satisfactory resolutions Proven track record in delivering business-as-usual initiatives and small internal projects using Agile methodologies Experience in managing continuous improvement processes Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a history of establishing and maintaining effective relationships and collaborating with stakeholders. Strong organizational skills and comfort in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated initiative and problem-solving abilities. Ability to remain calm under pressure, with the confidence to escalate issues or flag risks as they arise. Experience working in a global environment and across multiple time zones. Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, ITSM tools like Cherwell and ServiceNow, and the MS Office suite.

Desired Skills and Experience

Experience and/or Cyber Security qualifications related to SIEM, Endpoint Detection & Response, Managed Services, Data Loss Prevention, etc.
