We are seeking an experienced Ecology Team Leader to join our team at RSK Group. As a key member of our ecology team, you will be responsible for leading and expanding our team of ecologists in Redhill.

You will have the opportunity to work on a wide portfolio of projects, including nationally significant infrastructure projects, landscape-scale restoration, and other sectors such as ports, water utilities, transport, and renewable power.

Our team is close-knit and collaborative, with an active Ecology Community of Practice. We pride ourselves on being at the forefront of ecological best practice and innovation.

As a Senior Ecologist, you will be responsible for mentoring and guiding more junior ecologists, driving ecological capability and innovation, and managing all stages of Ecological Impact Assessment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Mentoring and guiding more junior ecologists;
  • Helping to drive the ecological capability and innovation of our national team;
  • Managing all stages of Ecological Impact Assessment from feasibility to delivery and monitoring;
  • Providing ecological input into planning, HRA, and other consents;
  • Overseeing protected species licence applications and mitigation;
  • Design of habitat restoration/creation schemes and delivering Biodiversity Net Gain;
  • Supporting tenders;
  • Leading field surveys in your technical areas;
  • Providing a key interface with project teams, clients, stakeholders, and the public as required.

Qualifications/Requirements

The role is suitable for an experienced Ecology professional with full membership of CIEEM. You should possess and be able to demonstrate the following qualifications, skills, and knowledge:

  • Have an ecological/environmental related degree;
  • Be, or working towards, Chartered Ecologist or Environmentalist;
  • Hold a protected species licence or have another ecological specialism;
  • Proven experience in ecological impact assessment;
  • Have excellent written and oral communication;
  • Hold a full UK driving licence;
  • Previous consultancy experience is desirable.
