Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Compliance Officer to join our team at Social Care Locums. As a key member of our Planning Enforcement team, you will play a critical role in ensuring that development is carried out in accordance with approved plans and that conditions imposed on planning permissions are complied with.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Liaise with Team Leaders and Development Managers on complex and high-profile investigations, providing expert advice and guidance to ensure effective enforcement of planning regulations.
  2. Log and Investigate Investigation Requests in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring that all necessary documentation is gathered and reviewed.
  3. Conduct Site Visits and Surveys to gather evidence of any breach of planning control, interviewing members of the public, owners, and occupiers of the land as necessary.
  4. Negotiate Compliance with planning controls, working with developers and other stakeholders to resolve issues and ensure compliance.
  5. Liaise with Legal Services and Other Relevant Services as necessary, providing expert advice and guidance on planning enforcement matters.
  6. Prepare Reports and Present Evidence in written representation appeals, informal hearings, public inquiries, and court hearings, as required.
  7. Respond to Enquiries and Correspondence from members of the public, other officers, and interested parties, providing clear and concise information on planning enforcement matters.
  8. Work with the Team Leader and Other Officers to deliver proactive enforcement projects, increasing public awareness and understanding of planning enforcement.
  9. Assist with Officer and Member Training on planning enforcement matters, ensuring that all staff are equipped to effectively enforce planning regulations.
  10. Provide Enforcement Support across Planning Services, as required, ensuring that all planning enforcement matters are handled efficiently and effectively.
  11. Assist the Team Leader with regular committee reports on the Compliance Team's performance, providing data and insights to inform decision-making.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong understanding of planning enforcement regulations and procedures, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will also need to be able to work effectively in a team environment, providing expert advice and guidance to colleagues and stakeholders.
