Planning Enforcement Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Compliance Officer to join our team at Social Care Locums. As a key member of our Planning Enforcement team, you will play a critical role in ensuring that development is carried out in accordance with approved plans and that conditions imposed on planning permissions are complied with.
Key Responsibilities- Liaise with Team Leaders and Development Managers on complex and high-profile investigations, providing expert advice and guidance to ensure effective enforcement of planning regulations.
- Log and Investigate Investigation Requests in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring that all necessary documentation is gathered and reviewed.
- Conduct Site Visits and Surveys to gather evidence of any breach of planning control, interviewing members of the public, owners, and occupiers of the land as necessary.
- Negotiate Compliance with planning controls, working with developers and other stakeholders to resolve issues and ensure compliance.
- Liaise with Legal Services and Other Relevant Services as necessary, providing expert advice and guidance on planning enforcement matters.
- Prepare Reports and Present Evidence in written representation appeals, informal hearings, public inquiries, and court hearings, as required.
- Respond to Enquiries and Correspondence from members of the public, other officers, and interested parties, providing clear and concise information on planning enforcement matters.
- Work with the Team Leader and Other Officers to deliver proactive enforcement projects, increasing public awareness and understanding of planning enforcement.
- Assist with Officer and Member Training on planning enforcement matters, ensuring that all staff are equipped to effectively enforce planning regulations.
- Provide Enforcement Support across Planning Services, as required, ensuring that all planning enforcement matters are handled efficiently and effectively.
- Assist the Team Leader with regular committee reports on the Compliance Team's performance, providing data and insights to inform decision-making.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong understanding of planning enforcement regulations and procedures, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will also need to be able to work effectively in a team environment, providing expert advice and guidance to colleagues and stakeholders.
