About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Civil Engineer to join our dynamic Water Engineering team in Belfast. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in driving the future of water infrastructure, leading the delivery and design of essential water and wastewater upgrades and new facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Delivery: Manage the delivery of complex tasks and projects, ensuring budget adherence and technical excellence. Lead the technical delivery on multiple projects, reviewing work produced by others to ensure timely and accurate results.
  • Technical Expertise: Offer technical knowledge and expertise to the design team at all stages, including feasibility studies, outline design, detailed designs, and preparing technical specifications.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure design compliance with all applicable standards and regulations, providing technical expertise for interdisciplinary analytical studies.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with clients to develop scope, price proposals, and communicate project progress. Collaborate with our Project Managers and Lead Design Engineers to solve problems and deliver benefits to the communities we serve.
  • Team Development: Support the development of junior team members and undertake line management responsibilities.
Requirements
  • Experience: Proven experience within the water sector at the Principal level, ideally within the UK&I or with a good appreciation of UK&I norms and standards.
  • Design and Management: Experience in designing and managing the technical delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure and non-infrastructure upgrade schemes from feasibility and outline design to detailed design and construction support.
  • Professional Qualifications: Chartered or Incorporated with a relevant institution e.g. ICE, CIWEM or working towards it.
  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification, or demonstrable equivalent experience.
