Production Operations Manager

About the Role:
On behalf of Orion Group, a prominent player in the manufacturing sector, we are seeking a Production Operations Manager to enhance our dynamic team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and refine production workflows within designated manufacturing areas, ensuring optimal efficiency and quality.
- Manage the by-product processing, including the packaging and preservation of products.
- Supervise the handling of raw materials from initial processing through to secondary operations, ensuring accurate tracking and documentation.
- Support the Manufacturing Lead in aligning production activities with budgetary constraints, efficiency targets, and raw material standards while upholding exceptional product quality and customer service.
- Lead, mentor, and develop team members to deliver outstanding service, embodying the company's vision and values.
- Maintain line management responsibilities for production staff and agency personnel.
Compliance and Safety:
Ensure adherence to all legal requirements, including health and safety regulations, food safety standards, and quality control measures.
Operational Excellence:
- Facilitate the smooth operation of shifts within the SQPDC (Safety, Quality, People, Delivery & Cost) framework, achieving set KPIs.
- Foster inter-departmental collaboration to enhance transparency and consistency, focusing on overall business performance.
- Engage with external clients and auditors during factory assessments and product launches.
- Promote continuous improvement initiatives and lean methodologies, prioritizing quality and customer satisfaction.
Resource Management:
- Plan and allocate resources effectively to meet production objectives while minimizing waste.
- Maintain accurate stock management and reporting, ensuring compliance with traceability requirements.
- Monitor expenditures related to cold storage, transportation, and by-product revenue.
Team Development:
- Conduct daily briefings to discuss production plans, KPIs, health and safety, and any additional requests.
- Manage workforce planning, including holiday and absence management, while addressing concerns promptly.
- Ensure discipline within the team and oversee payroll processes in accordance with HR and finance timelines.
- Support the ongoing development of team members through training and skills assessments.
- Facilitate effective onboarding for new team members, emphasizing health and safety protocols.
