Todd Hayes Ltd is currently in search of a Senior Mechanical Specialist to enhance our engineering team.

This role involves ensuring the reliability and efficiency of various mechanical systems.

As a Senior Mechanical Specialist, your primary responsibility will be to secure the operational integrity of a diverse array of mechanical apparatus.

You will be expected to possess comprehensive operational expertise in mechanical systems relevant to the oil and gas sector, alongside a robust understanding of engineering principles, maintenance practices, and strategic planning.


  • A degree in Engineering or an equivalent qualification such as HNC/HND, complemented by a minimum of 8-10 years of experience in the offshore oil and gas sector or similarly regulated environments.
  • Deliver mechanical engineering assistance across multiple departments, including Operations, Maintenance, Projects, Metering, and Integrity.
  • Offer engineering support and direction during operational downtimes and maintenance activities.
  • Proactively address mechanically-related production inefficiencies by assessing equipment performance, pinpointing enhancement opportunities, and executing cost-effective improvement strategies; conduct root cause analysis for failures.
  • Contribute to the development of maintenance strategies and protocols, detailing equipment-specific routines and procedures.
  • Oversee maintenance needs and effectiveness, aiming to reduce mechanical maintenance backlogs and interventions through systematic review processes.
  • Utilize electronic maintenance management systems, such as Maximo, for tracking and reporting.
  • Conduct Site Assurance Surveys at various operational sites.
  • Provide technical mentorship and training to Technicians and new team members.

Essential knowledge areas for Senior Mechanical Specialists include performance testing, assurance, maintenance, and failure analysis of both actuated and non-actuated valves.

Competence in CompEx Ex11 or equivalent is required, along with familiarity with HVAC systems and equipment.

We seek a diligent, dedicated team player who can foster collaboration among colleagues at all levels and is supportive of organizational changes.


  • In this role, you will operate within established regulatory frameworks and engineering standards, ensuring that our mechanical systems remain functional and in peak condition, promoting fuel efficiency and minimizing unplanned maintenance interventions.
