Job Description

**About the Role**

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Procurement Leader to join our team at Unite Students. As a key member of our Procurement Leadership Team, you will be responsible for designing, driving, and delivering the procurement strategy for our Construction and Development (C&D) spend.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a long-term category strategy in support of business objectives, sustainable construction targets, and risk management.
  • Deliver the procurement strategy for C&D, including tendering, negotiating, contracting, and fostering supply chain relationships.
  • Provide constructive challenge to entrenched practices and spending culture, instilling commercial discipline in all areas of the category and its supply chain.
  • Ensure fit-for-purpose contracts and measures of performance are in place, and work closely with our Development team, main contractors, and the C&D supply chain to maintain optimal supply chain performance and manage risk.
  • Deputise for the Director as needed and lead on initiatives across the wider business for the function.
  • Manage a Direct Report, a Procurement Manager based out of Bristol, and foster and develop their performance and alignment to functional and corporate objectives.

Requirements

  • A proven track record of delivering value through procurement approaches and strategies.
  • Extensive expertise in category management, tendering, negotiation, contracting, sustainable procurement, and fostering supply chain relationships.
  • Commercial intuition and the ability to proactively identify opportunities and unlock maximum possible benefit.
  • A customer-first mindset, with the ability to build relationships and rapport with the wider procurement team and key stakeholders.
