Job Purpose:

This is a key position, carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across several site locations. As a Refrigeration Engineer, you will be the first line in all service and maintenance throughout your allocated sites.

You will be responsible for maintaining service and repairing Refrigeration Equipment in customer locations and providing assistance to HVAC equipment containing refrigeration circuits.

Key Accountabilities:
  1. Prioritize maintenance and repair work to achieve agreed timescales and response times.
  2. Identify non-repairable faults promptly and advise the Line manager of findings, with recommendations regarding suitable replacements.
  3. Ensure PPM schedules are completed within agreed timescales and that all necessary paperwork is completed accurately and to the laid-down procedures.
  4. Ensure that all technical and compliance paperwork is always completed and up to date.
  5. Participate on an out of hours standby rota and arrange and communicate any cover required due to holidays or unforeseen circumstances to the Line manager.
  6. Be aware of regulations and codes of practice applicable to the tasks.
  7. Order and fit parts or components as prescribed by company procedures.
  8. Notify the company helpdesk of procedural task condition on cessation of works.
  9. Advise the GSMs of any repair, maintenance and installation issues that are likely to affect the smooth running of the store and build rapport and promote the spirit of partnership with all GSMs.
  10. Respond promptly and positively to service call requests from the Helpdesk and assess the requirements of the job and carry out repairs as and where necessary.
  11. Carry out surveys and complete reports as required by the refrigeration supervisor/ RFM.
  12. Complete all tasks assigned within the allotted time period to the satisfaction of the company and client.
  13. Be proficient in the use of written and verbal communication, report writing and recording procedures.
  14. Attend training courses as and where necessary and ensure personal job skills keep pace with technical and business developments.
  15. Ensure all mandatory Evolve on-line training modules are completed.
  16. Comply with the Health and Safety at Work Act and the company's Health and Safety Policy at all times.
  17. Work with company and ASDA colleagues to ensure that laid-down standards of quality are maintained at all times.
  18. Represent the company in a professional and competent manner at all times and develop a good working relationship with City and ASDA colleagues.
  19. Comply with any other reasonable request or instruction from the City Management Team.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Essential:
  • Suitable Maths & English qualification
  • Time Served Apprenticeship
  • NVQ/C&G Refrigeration Based Qualification
  • Approved Training Program
  • Refrigerant Handling C&G 2079 or equivalent CITB certificate
  • Skill Card
  • Refrigeration, Electrical, Air Conditioning & Mechanical knowledge
  • Equipment Diagnostic Skills
  • Equipment Repair Skills
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to work at heights
  • Competent in the use of Access Equipment
  • Current Full driving licence essential
  • Available for Out of Hours Working
