London, Greater London, United Kingdom Cygnet Full time

Are you a Rehabilitation Therapy Specialist seeking a fulfilling career opportunity?

About Us

Cygnet has been a trusted provider of health and social care services across England, Scotland, and Wales since 1988.

Your Role

Service Line : Male Mental Health Rehabilitation

Overview of the Facility:

Cygnet Oaks is a 35-bed facility focused on high-dependency inpatient rehabilitation for men, offering a comprehensive treatment program aimed at facilitating their transition back to independent living.

Depending on the individual's needs, Cygnet Oaks provides varying levels of support across two wards, the Lodge and the House;

Lodge – a 20-bed admission ward where most service users commence their recovery journey. Individuals admitted here typically transition from acute or low secure services. House – a 15-bed service designed for individuals to continue their care pathway. The Lodge also features a 4-bed step-through service, located in a separate corridor with its own living space, preparing individuals for community placements while still receiving input from the multi-disciplinary team (MDT).

Our dedicated clinical teams deliver a full multi-disciplinary program that encompasses occupational therapy, psychology, and psychiatry, providing service users with the necessary support to stabilize their conditions and reintegrate into society with renewed enthusiasm and optimism.

Our interventions are tailored to meet individual needs. Our team adapts their engagement techniques and personnel to maximize participation and ensure consistent progress for the men in our care.

The occupational therapy department focuses on enabling service users to engage in meaningful activities, addressing barriers that hinder their participation, and equipping individuals with the skills necessary for a more independent and fulfilling life within the community. To facilitate this, we offer a comprehensive therapy program that includes a variety of self-care, productive, and leisure activities. Our occupational therapy pathway consists of multiple treatment stages, with interventions evolving as service users progress through each phase.

The local community, including Barnsley town center, is easily accessible, allowing service users to take advantage of various facilities. To foster social inclusion, we have established pathways that connect service users' short-term goals in care plans with activities available in mainstream community services.

Occupational Therapy Directorate

Under the guidance of our occupational therapy directors, we support over 150 Occupational Therapists and more than 300 OT support staff. Collaborating as a large team, we provide mutual support across the group, with opportunities to participate in specialist interest groups and engage in service development.

Each service line is led by a clinical lead occupational therapist responsible for advancing evidence-based practices and establishing a cohesive occupational therapy pathway.

We ensure that our occupational therapy team members have a voice in service model development, leveraging the expertise and support of our clinical lead occupational therapists.

Occupational Therapy Preceptorship & Induction:

We recognize the challenges posed by recent times and understand that this may have affected some of your placement experiences. We offer a 12-month preceptorship program in Occupational Therapy to support and consolidate essential skills.

For further insights into life as an OT at Cygnet Health Care, we invite you to explore resources where you can hear from our exceptional OTs about their experiences and advice – this could be beneficial for your career progression.
