Job Title: Principal Electrical Calibration Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Electrical Calibration Engineer to join our team at BAE Systems. As a key member of our Electrical Calibration department, you will be responsible for performing and supervising high-level calibration and repair of electrical test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform and supervise high-level calibration and repair of TMDE, including resource management and calibration workload signoff.
  • Develop and maintain calibration procedures and measurement uncertainty budgets.
  • Participate in UKAS (ISO) audits and achieve UKAS signatory status.
  • Deliver on-the-job training and experiential learning to apprentices and less experienced team members.
  • Communicate effectively with technical stakeholders, including consultation on new measurement technologies.

Requirements:

Essential:

  • Extensive experience in a precision Electrical metrology laboratory environment.
  • Understanding of quality systems and standards (ISO 17025/ISO 9001).
  • Relevant academic qualification (STEM degree, HNC/HND or equivalent).

Desirable:

  • Existing UKAS signatory status for Electrical Calibration.
  • Experience in creating measurement uncertainty budgets to ISO 17025 level.
  • Experience in using automation software (Fluke Metcal, Met/Track, Met/Teams, Labview).
  • Experience in Mechanical/Dimensional/Temperature calibrations.

The calibration department supports 30,000 pieces of equipment per year, ranging from traditional analogue equipment to state-of-the-art digital systems. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
