Nurse Specialist in Child Care

Croydon, Greater London, United Kingdom NHS Full time
Main Responsibilities

The postholder will work within systems and processes to ensure all families have a reliable and readily accessible point of contact after the death of their child, in the form of a Key Worker.

The post holder will be part of the Indigo team acting as a named point of contact for families when their child has died. This post-holder will be a key part of the Child Death Review Process Team (CDRP).

Key Duties
  • Liaise with clinical teams to ensure knowledge of every child death.
  • Accountable for liaising with the Child Death Review Process (CDRP) Manager to ensure that every family has been assigned a key worker, which may be the CDRP Key Worker or another key professional for that family.
  • Listen and work with families to assess what their most immediate needs are in terms of support and make an individualised plan for each family, agreeing future contact arrangements and signposting to other organisations as appropriate.
  • Set up communication systems with families which may include telephone, email or face-to-face meetings as appropriate, documenting all contact.
