We are seeking a skilled and motivated Construction Operative to join our dynamic team at Torus Group, delivering top-quality facilities and maintenance services across the North West.
This is a hands-on role where you will collaborate with an integrated team, overseeing apprentices and contributing to high-standard outcomes for our clients.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out General Construction Activities: Perform a variety of tasks, including excavations, demolition, environmental cleaning, and grass cutting, as well as removal of environmental and general waste, installation of fencing, painting, and general cleaning.
- Support Construction Activity: Provide effective and efficient support to the construction activity of Torus Group, including fencing, painting, ground works, and excavations, as well as carrying out remedial works such as wallpaper stripping and plaster removal.
- Assist Tradesmen: Undertake associated duties assisting tradesmen to contribute to Torus Group's 'right first time' objective.
- Plan and Organise Work: Plan and organise work in an economical and effective manner, making the best use of available time, plant, transport, and materials in accordance with specified company priority response times.
- Operate Scheduled Appointment System: Operate within a scheduled appointment system, including liaison with customers and other team members to effectively undertake works.
- Undertake Diagnostic and Pre-Measuring Work: Undertake diagnostic and pre-measuring work to ascertain the nature of any activities and facilitate their completion.
- Use Communication and IT Equipment: Use any communication or IT equipment to facilitate the job role, including receiving instructions, completing works orders, general communications, and ordering materials.
- Make Decisions and Inform Customers: Make necessary decisions regarding repair requirements, in accordance with contractual guidelines, and inform customers when it is not possible to complete a repair, making mutually agreed arrangements to complete the repair.
- Complete Documentation: Correctly complete all documentation and provide/input all information associated with the role and duties undertaken, including completing all documentation associated with legislative and professional requirements.
- Drive Company Vehicles: Drive company vehicles in a careful and professional manner, in accordance with all company procedures.
- Maintain and Operate Stock and Equipment: Maintain and operate an agreed range of stock and equipment within the vehicle provided.
- Use Necessary Tools, Plant, and Equipment: Use all necessary tools, plant, and equipment associated with the post and duties undertaken.
- Manage Materials: Manage materials as effectively as possible, with regards to minimising waste, choice of specification, and logistics.
- Undertake Training and Development: Undertake individual or corporate training and development in association with your role and duties.
- Ensure Safety Precautions: Ensure the observance of all statutory and local safety precautions and report immediately any accidents or breaches of safety procedures.
- Liaise with Schedulers, Planners, and Contractors: Liaise as required with Schedulers, Planners, CLO's, other HMS divisions or contractors to ensure the work is properly coordinated and the necessary works are fully completed.
- Comply with Minimum Standards: Ensure the compliance of all minimum standards of work, customer care requirements, and key performance measures in undertaking the role.
- Perform Other Duties: Carry out other appropriate duties as required, which your line manager may from time to time determine.
- NVQ Level 2 in Construction or Maintenance Discipline: Hold an NVQ Level 2 in Construction or Maintenance discipline or equivalent.
- CSCS Card: Hold a CSCS card at an appropriate level.
- Full UK or EU Driving License: Hold a full UK or EU driving license.
- Experience in Maintenance and Environmental Clearance: Have experience of maintenance, environmental clearance, general labouring, and willing to be proactive in the continuous improvement of a quality service.
- Ability to Demonstrate Initiative: Able to demonstrate initiative when dealing with situations and completing tasks.
