About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Storage Engineer/ Administrator to join our team in Southampton. As a key member of our IT infrastructure team, you will be responsible for leading the design, enhancement, implementation, and administration of our storage infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Develop Complex Solutions: Design and develop complex integrated solutions for SAN and NAS environments.
  • Vendor Comparison and Evaluation: Perform and evaluate vendor and cost comparisons for projects looking at a range of solutions and make recommendations.
  • On-Call Support: Provide 24/7 on-call support (1 in 8 weeks scenario).
  • Subject Matter Expert: Be a Subject Matter Expert on established and emerging storage technologies related to NetApp, EMC VPLEX, Isilon VMAX, POWERMAX storage platforms, NetApp Cluster mode NAS arrays, and Pure block and Objective storage systems.
  • Automated Storage Device Management: Automated storage device management, configuration, and provisioning with Ansible NetApp cluster mode.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to SOX, PCI, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Change Control: Adhere to and uphold Change Control processes and compliance.
  • Capacity and Redundancy Management: Understand and avoid capacity, redundancy, and health constraints of storage systems.
  • Security: Ensure that all security requirements are met or exceeded.
  • Team Leadership: Provide a significant contribution to defining team roadmap and priorities.
  • Problem-Solving: Develop reliable solutions to complex problems.
  • Mentorship: Serve as a mentor and provide guidance to less experienced Storage team members.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science/ relevant subject combined with proven relevant experience or 9+ years relevant experience.
  • NetApp Experience: NetApp experience.
  • Scripting and Coding: Able to author and implement basic scripting/ coding for automation.
  • Problem-Solving: Able to solve moderately complex technical problems independently.
  • Infrastructure Implementation: Proven background in successful infrastructure implementation.
  • Communication and Leadership: Strong communication skills and ability to lead/ mentor in a small team setting.
  • Organizational Skills: Good organizational skills and quality across work including documentation.
