We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Peer Support Worker to join our team at the Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. As a Peer Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing support and guidance to individuals who have experienced mental illness, helping them to regain control over their lives and achieve their recovery goals.
Key Responsibilities- Provide peer support and practical assistance to service users, promoting choice, self-determination, and opportunities for socially valued roles and connection to local communities.
- Work collaboratively with the Clinical Engagement, Access and Inclusion Co-ordinator to develop and implement care plans that address the unique needs of each service user.
- Engage with diverse communities and identify barriers that prevent people from accessing support, developing strategies to overcome these challenges.
- Work sensitively with mothers and their families, demonstrating an awareness of safeguarding principles and promoting a culture of respect and empathy.
- Lived experience of mental illness, with a strong understanding of the recovery process and the challenges faced by individuals who have experienced mental illness.
- NVQ3 in Care or equivalent qualification/experience, demonstrating a solid foundation in care principles and practices.
- Knowledge of community resources and the ability to navigate complex systems to access support and services.
- Ability to transport and accompany service users to various locations, with a valid driving license and access to a vehicle.
