Job Summary

We are seeking a Relief School Cook to join our team at Comhairle nan Eilean Siar. As a Relief School Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking meals for our students and staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing and cooking meals to meet the standard specification
  • Maintaining a high standard of personal and kitchen hygiene
  • Assisting in washing up and kitchen/dining room cleaning
  • Managing kitchen operations and maintaining a clean and safe environment
  • Coordinating with suppliers and staff to ensure smooth meal service

Requirements

  • Knowledge of current food safety legislation and the importance of food hygiene
  • Good communication skills to deal with staff, pupils, and suppliers
  • Practical experience in a large-scale catering environment, producing 50+ meals daily
  • Good written and numeracy skills to complete relevant documentation and returns
  • Current Food Hygiene Qualification and a relevant qualification in cooking – SCQF Level 5 Qualification in Professional Cookery
