Innovation Tax Specialist

At Grant Thornton, we're seeking a highly skilled Innovation Tax Manager to join our team. As a key member of our Innovation Tax team, you'll play a crucial role in helping businesses unlock the full potential of their innovation and drive sustainable growth.
Your Key Responsibilities:- Liaise with technical leads, engineers, and financial personnel to understand the technical aspects of client projects and identify areas of innovation.
- Translate complex technical work into descriptions understandable to non-technical field specialists, enabling the writing of comprehensive technical narratives.
- Manage and take ownership of your own portfolio of clients, building meaningful relationships and assisting them in optimising their R&D claims.
- Prepare and/or review complex cost analysis data, utilising tools such as Excel, Alteryx, and Power BI to determine which costs can be included within a client's R&D claim.
- Support business development opportunities and deliver exceptional service to existing clients.
- Mentor and guide more junior colleagues, supporting their development and enabling you to grow towards more senior roles.
- Current experience in the innovation taxes space.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills, including the ability to teach technical specialists.
- Exceptional listening skills to understand client challenges and identify areas of innovation.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritise and plan work to meet deadlines.
- Ability to identify areas of risk and carry out effective reviews.
- Confidence and ability to manage your own portfolio, including filing deadlines and monitoring budgets.
- Willingness and ability to work as part of a team.
- Good knowledge of Word and Excel.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to delegate, review, and offer constructive feedback.
