Job Title: Plant Operator

Job Summary:

Stericycle is seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Plant Operator to join our team at Knostrop Treatment Works. As a key member of our operations team, you will play a crucial role in the day-to-day operation of the plant, ensuring maximum plant availability and productivity in accordance with company operational procedures and legislative obligations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Unload vehicles and trailers, and effectively manoeuvre waste on the plant and weigh containers.
  • Ensure waste containers are emptied, cleaned thoroughly, and readily available for collection.
  • Coordinate the reception of all deliveries to the plant, including suppliers and contractors.
  • Oversee the safe handling of loose waste into containers by deliverers.
  • Operate a forklift truck if required.
  • Participate in plant shutdowns as necessary.
  • Maintain company operational records and data specific to the job function.
  • Draw attention to management any major defects, concerns, or problems with equipment or the building.
  • Work under the direction of and assist the Shift Supervisor and Plant Manager in their duties during breakdowns or controlled stoppages.
  • Observe and comply with all safety notices and signs, and ensure all work is carried out in a safe and proper manner.
  • Attend training courses or instruction specific to the job as required.
  • Perform additional duties as necessary to ensure safe compliance and continuation of operations.
  • Comply with company health and safety procedures.

  • A team player, able to work effectively under pressure and looking for a challenge.
  • Good health record.
  • Able to work on own initiative.
  • Punctual.
  • Demonstrate a flexible approach to hours, including shift work.
