Job Title: Apprentice Electrical Design Engineer

At TLP Recruitment, we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Apprentice Electrical Design Engineer to join our team. As an Apprentice Electrical Design Engineer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and repairing Container handling Quay side Cranes, Rubber Tyred Yard Gantry Cranes, and all other Port related mobile equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and repair Container handling Quay side Cranes, Rubber Tyred Yard Gantry Cranes, and all other Port related mobile equipment.
  • Ensure that all Engineering staff and Contractors are working safely, effectively, and efficiently while completing all work activities allocated to them.
  • Prioritise all engineering maintenance and repairs to ensure maximum equipment uptime, efficiency, and safety.
  • Work in adherence to all port safe operating procedures, codes of practice, and risk assessments.
  • Operate and supervise specialised Port equipment, including the use of specialist tooling on all types of Port equipment.
Requirements:
  • Apprentice trained in Mechanical, Electrical, or multiskilled environments.
  • Experienced and qualified in Engineering maintenance disciplines, minimum NVQ Level 3 or above in HGV-Plant/Mechanical or Electrical discipline.
  • Background in maintaining HGV / heavy mobile plant / Diesel Engines (Mechanical), working knowledge of PLC's and variable speed drives, diagnosing, and repairing faults in electrical control systems.
  • Proven knowledge of Engineering safe working practices, repair practices, and procedures.
  • Experience of maintaining heavy plant and mobile equipment in a multi-skilled engineering environment.
  • Appreciation of the latest techniques for engineering repairs and maintenance, demonstrating continuous professional development of technical knowledge.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Able to work confidently at height.
Desirable Skills:
  • First line supervisory experience with an engineering maintenance environment.
  • National Certificate HNC Engineering.
  • IOSH certification, 18th Edition.
