Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Fabrication Specialist to join our team at GES Ltd / GE Spares. As a key member of our manufacturing department, you will be responsible for performing a range of fabrication and welding tasks, including reading work orders and manufacturing standards, and following production drawings and assembly instructions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Study engineered drawings and blueprints to determine materials required and plan fabrication and welding tasks
  • Assemble and fit steel sections to form complete units or subunits using tack welding and other fabrication methods
  • Set up and operate heavy-duty metalworking machines, including torches, drills, dye grinders, grinders, hammers, levels, plasma cutters, and overhead cranes
  • Rig, hoist, and move materials within the factory
  • Understand and meet quality requirements for products and jobs to specified standards
  • Detect and report defective material to supervisor
  • Complete special projects as required
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of production and quality documentation
  • Report any real or potential safety/health hazards, accidents, or near misses to supervisor
  • Conduct daily inspections of work area and maintain a tidy work environment
  • Take responsibility for tooling and equipment made available for use and report any defects to supervisor
  • Comply with company's site rules and procedures, Health & Safety Policy, and use of PPE at all times
  • Comply with requirements of Integrated Quality, Environmental, and Health & Safety Management system (ISO)

Requirements:

  • Strong fabrication and welding skills
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints
  • Experience with heavy-duty metalworking machines
  • Good understanding of quality requirements and standards
  • Ability to work safely and follow company procedures
