About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Building Surveyor to join our Property Services team at Churchill Estates Management Ltd. As a Building Surveyor, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our retirement developments, providing technical support and expertise to our colleagues and stakeholders.

Main Responsibilities
  • Conduct site-based external and internal property surveys to identify key issues and create reports.
  • Prepare tender packs based on standard specifications and surveys, and adjudicate tender returns to ensure compliance with contractors.
  • Draw up JCT contracts for Section 20 projects and provide relief support with routine fire risk assessments.
  • Record and collate stock condition data to qualify service charge and contingency fund requirements.
  • Work closely with Operational colleagues to provide technical support and escalate any identified issues relating to H&S, non-compliance, or urgent repair.
  • Carry out routine stock condition surveys and build and maintain excellent relationships with internal colleagues, contractors, consultants, and homeowners.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of building surveying in the residential environment.
  • A keen interest in building maintenance, building compliance, and building safety.
  • Educated to at least HND level or equivalent.
  • Excellent communications skills (verbal and in writing).
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritize.
  • Computer literate and good knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
  • Evidence of ongoing commitment to professional development.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience of working within Section 20 legislation.
  • Experience of working within a matrix organization.
  • Experience in the retirement living sector.
  • Experience of carrying out fire risk assessments.
  • Experience of using JCT contracts.
  • Sound knowledge of CDM Regulation 2015.
  • An interest in fire safety and willingness to commit to ongoing professional development in this respect.
  • Good knowledge of the Building Safety Act.
