As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for evaluating and assessing new Radio technologies and benefits, and driving necessary change to align with the company's strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Radio Technology Evaluation
- Evaluate and assess new Radio technologies and benefits
- Articulate benefits vs. drawbacks
- Radio Supplier Roadmap
- Evaluate the radio supplier roadmap
- Drive necessary change through partnership and influencing
- Energy Efficiency
- Analyze existing solutions
- Explore new innovations
- Provide recommendations to improve energy efficiency of Radio Network
- Technical Requirements
- Produce high-level technical requirements and specifications for new capability deployment
- Align with the organization's best practice and policy
- Strategy Development
- Develop strategy for key technology domains
- Engage with internal stakeholders and external suppliers
- Conduct strategic analysis across key domains (technology, finance, competition, etc.)
- Presentations and Stakeholder Engagement
- Present strategy, roadmaps, and other analysis to senior management and stakeholders
- Support senior networks management and other directorates in their engagement
- Technical Contribution
- Contribute to Ofcom consultations on Radio-related aspects
- Provide strategic technical guidance on impact
- Device Team Engagement
- Lead the network's engagement with the device team on technical capabilities and features
- Align with capability roadmap requirements
Required Skills and Experience
- Good understanding of Open RAN technology and ecosystem
- Practical experience in Open RAN technology would be highly desirable
- Good understanding of key emerging technologies and trends (Virtualisation, Cloud, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, etc.)
- Ability to work autonomously with little supervision
- Hands-on experience of radio technology evaluation and field trials
- Knowledge and experience with network simulation methods and tools would be an advantage
- Understanding of project management fundamentals and Agile methodology
- A good knowledge of common propagation models and their application to coverage planning and predictions
- Proven success in leading on development and delivery of technology strategy, particularly radio
- Familiar with the competition and regulatory landscape affecting the provision of telecommunication services in the UK
- An appropriate academic qualification in telecommunications or computer science from a reputable institution
