We are seeking a skilled Tooling Project Engineer to support our current production and future new product introductions.

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Tooling Project Engineer to join our engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the design of new tooling, from optimization to build and buy-off, to ensure successful introduction into production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and validate designs for various types of tooling, including high-pressure die casting tools, trim/clip tools, spray heads, and robot end effectors and jigs & fixtures, against specifications and RFQ.
  • Project manage tooling vendors/suppliers, which may involve overseas travel.
  • Produce 2D CAD product, tooling, fixture, and equipment drawings to support manufacturing, quality, and engineering activities.
  • Participate in feasibility reviews and apply design for manufacture (DFM) principles to evaluate product designs and produce summary reports.
  • Have a complete understanding of component tolerances, dimensional capability statistics, and GD&T.

Requirements

  • Significant experience in tooling, working as either a Tooling Engineer or Tool Design Engineer, incorporating design and project management.
  • Proficient in using 2D/3D CAD, interrogating and optimizing designs.
  • Expert knowledge of tooling, including die casting, stamping, or plastic injection molding.
  • Knowledge of robot end effectors, jigs & fixtures, runner & cooling design would be beneficial.
  • MAGMASOFT simulation software and analysis (desirable).
  • Project management, supplier vendor management, and effective communication skills to build relationships with customers.
