Location: Congleton

This is a hybrid role, allowing for remote work 2 to 3 days a week. Candidates should be within a reasonable commuting distance from the Congleton office.

Mission:

As part of a small yet efficient IT team, you will support a 24/7 manufacturing and office environment by delivering a dependable database administration service. Your role will be crucial in maintaining the integrity and availability of all IT systems according to business requirements while adhering to established guidelines.

The Role:

The Enterprise Database Administrator will be responsible for the design, implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance optimization of our essential SQL Server systems. Additionally, you will investigate and implement modern database solutions to enhance business operations. This position demands hands-on technical expertise alongside strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing SQL Server databases across various product lifecycle stages, from development to critical production systems.
  • Researching, implementing, and maintaining alternative database systems to facilitate business transformation.
  • Configuring and managing database servers and processes, including system health and performance monitoring to ensure optimal performance, availability, and security.
  • Utilizing data modeling techniques to guarantee that development and implementation efforts align with integration and performance standards.
  • Independently diagnosing, resolving, and correcting issues in real-time, ensuring comprehensive problem resolution.
  • Streamlining and automating routine processes, tracking issues, and documenting changes.
  • Assisting developers with complex query optimization and schema adjustments.
  • Conducting scheduled maintenance and supporting release deployment activities outside of regular hours.
  • Complying with stringent cybersecurity protocols in all aspects of work.
  • Sharing domain knowledge and technical expertise, providing mentorship and cross-training to peers and team members.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in MS SQL Server Administration is essential; certifications such as MCTS, MCITP, and/or MVP are advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), utilizing native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
  • Experience with backup, restore, and recovery models (VEEAM is a plus).
  • Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) strategies for SQL Server.
  • Familiarity with Windows server environments.
  • A flexible, team-oriented attitude with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to independently organize and plan work in a dynamic environment.
  • Capability to effectively manage multiple tasks and switch contexts between various activities and teams.
