Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to work one-on-one with a student in Year 8 who has ADHD. The ideal candidate will have experience working with students with behavioral challenges and possess knowledge of behavior management techniques, positive reinforcement strategies, and de-escalation methods.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized support to the student with ADHD, promoting positive relationships and a safe learning environment
  • Collaborate with the Educational Psychologist, SENCO, Class Teacher, and other external agencies to develop and implement effective support strategies
  • Implement behavior management techniques and positive reinforcement strategies to promote the student's academic and social growth
  • Communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure a cohesive support system

Requirements:

  • Experience working with students with behavioral challenges, preferably in an educational or special education setting
  • Knowledge of behavior management techniques, positive reinforcement strategies, and de-escalation methods
  • Ability to establish rapport and build positive relationships with students, demonstrating patience, empathy, and understanding
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations
  • Valid DBS certificate on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Some knowledge of strategies in working with young people with behavioral problems
  • Basic knowledge of SEND and learning barriers
  • Safeguarding experience
