Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to work one-on-one with a student in Year 8 who has ADHD. The ideal candidate will have experience working with students with behavioral challenges and possess knowledge of behavior management techniques, positive reinforcement strategies, and de-escalation methods.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized support to the student with ADHD, promoting positive relationships and a safe learning environment
- Collaborate with the Educational Psychologist, SENCO, Class Teacher, and other external agencies to develop and implement effective support strategies
- Implement behavior management techniques and positive reinforcement strategies to promote the student's academic and social growth
- Communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure a cohesive support system
Requirements:
- Experience working with students with behavioral challenges, preferably in an educational or special education setting
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques, positive reinforcement strategies, and de-escalation methods
- Ability to establish rapport and build positive relationships with students, demonstrating patience, empathy, and understanding
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations
- Valid DBS certificate on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Some knowledge of strategies in working with young people with behavioral problems
- Basic knowledge of SEND and learning barriers
- Safeguarding experience
