Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Personal Assistant to join our team at PALS Ltd. As a Personal Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with learning disabilities to access and participate in community resources and learning programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide person-centered and proactive support and assistance to individuals with learning disabilities on a 1:1 basis, enabling them to access education, day services, and community-based activities.
  • Enable and promote individuals to make informed choices by encouraging new experiences, participation in their local community, and a broad range of activities.
  • Assist individuals to maintain and develop appropriate friendships and relationships.
  • Communicate effectively with individuals using their preferred method of communication.
  • Be aware of and safeguard individuals from bullying, harassment, and potential harm and abuse by following the 'Protection of Vulnerable Adults' policy and procedure.
  • Advocate and represent the interests of individuals as appropriate.
  • Assess and minimize risks individuals may face in undertaking activities or accessing services in the community, and contribute to a written risk assessment.
  • Support and assist individuals to understand any risks and problems they may face and to manage these safely.
  • Work with individuals in a way that is respectful, person-centered, creative, and innovative, and that promotes their independence.
  • Support and assist individuals with their personal care needs where necessary, ensuring dignity, respect, and privacy is observed at all times.
  • Adhere to the individual's Plan of care, including moving and handling.
  • Support and assist individuals with eating and drinking where necessary.
  • Administer medication following training and in accordance with the correct procedures.
Requirements
  • Demonstrable understanding of a Person-Centered approach and a commitment to providing top-quality support.
  • Access to your own vehicle is essential, with business mileage paid and agreed expenses reimbursed.
  • Experience of working with individuals with learning disabilities, preferably in a professional or personal capacity.
  • GCSE or equivalent qualification (preferred).
  • Driving License (required).

  • A competitive hourly rate of £12.84.
  • Business mileage of 35p per mile paid, plus agreed expenses.
